The Grampians

Before we started the walks we went to Halls Gap Visitor Centre to get a map of all the walks. We decided to do the Grand Canyon, The Pinnacle, Reids Lookout and The Balconies. The first walk was Grand Canyon. It was only a small walk with a tiny waterfall but when we got to the broken ladder we turned around. The second walk we did was The Pinnacles. It was very hot and I was complaining on the way up. On the way we stopped and looked at echo chamber. It was a bit hard getting in but it was worth it. When we were nearly at the lookout we went through Silent Street (which wasn’t very silent). Once we got to the lookout there was a big line of people. It was an amazing view. We could see Lake Wartook too. Before we did The Balconies walk we stopped at Reids Lookout. Next we walked to The Balconies. It was only a small walk.

The next day we walked Sundial and Mackenzie Falls. The first walk was Sundial. The lookout was amazing because you could see lots of lakes and Mt William. At the peak we also had our lunch. There was a sundial near the lookout too. The next walk we did was Mackenzie Falls. We had to walk down lots of stairs to get to the falls. It was gushing down with water and it looked super pretty. After Mackenzie Falls we continued to Fish Falls. There were heaps of people jumping off the rocks into the water. It wasn’t as pretty as Mackenzie Falls but it was still nice.

The next day we did Chatauqua. When we got to the peak we had to climb up steep rocks but thankfully Dad helped us. The view was of Halls Gap and all the mountains around. There was a valley that Halls Gap was in. The last walk that day was Venus Baths. The water was a browny orange colour because of all the tree roots in the water. We also had our lunch there, which was wraps. After Chatauqua peak and Venus Baths we went to the Ice Creamery to get some ice creams. I had rainbow, Isaac had choc mint, Mum had one with vanilla, caramel and choc chip, and Dad had english toffee and choc brownie fudge.

Our last day in The Grampians we walked the Tunnel Walk. It was a hot and tiring walk because of the big hill. When we were walking we could feel the ferns brushing against our legs. When we got to the end there was a tunnel surrounded by ferns. We also had our lunch there. I loved The Grampians and all the walks. The last stop of the seven months trip is Avoca.
