Shark Bay

The first day we were at Denham we went to Ocean Park. Ocean Park is a outdoor aquarium with sharks, rays and fish. The lady said that all the sea creatures were rescued from the ocean. One of the rays had their tail cut off halfway. The lady said that people cut off rays tails because they think they will get stung. If a rays tail is cut off too far then they have no way to defend themselves because it doesn’t grow back. Rays only sting you when they are scared. The sharks were big. The lady was feeding the sharks with a dead fish. After we did the aquarium we sat outside to have lunch. Whilst we were having lunch we saw heaps and heaps of sharks. We saw lemon sharks and nervous sharks. They were cool. The lemon shark was the biggest and the nervous shark was the smallest. Lunch was delicious and the aquarium was amazing.

We got up at 6am to drive to Steep Point. Steep Point is the most western point of Australia. On the drive we saw heaps of goats and two really silly camels because they kept zigzagging when they ran. We also saw heaps of kangaroos and a joey. The camels we the first wild ones we have seen on the trip. We saw heaps if blowholes. They were just holes in the ground with air and water coming out. They were really loud. Some of the blowholes were big and some were small. Mum was worried that we were going to fall down. Next we went to the most western point of Australia. There we had our photo taken and wrote our name in the book. We also found the Combers in the book. After that we watched people do balloon fishing. Balloon fishing is when a balloon carries your bait out from the cliff. One of the men tried to reel in a big shark but he couldn’t reel it in fully. Next we went to Shelter Bay to go snorkelling. Me and dad went snorkelling but mum and Isaac didn’t want to. We saw heaps of fish and starfish. The starfish were so pretty. On the drive back I had a sleep. Now we have visited all the points of the compass and the middle.

The next day we went to Monkey Mia. Monkey Mia is a resort where people come and see dolphins. We went on a dolphin feeding tour where the tour guide feeds the dolphins. We waited for three and a half hours but no dolphins came. That day we only saw a green backed turtle and an emu in the carpark. We left because I was sick of waiting for the dolphins and I was cold. That night we went to the old pub to catch up with Taylor, Lesley and Grady. It was a long time ago that Isaac and I met Lesley and Grady we didn’t remember them because we were distracted on the trampoline at Christmas. It was nice seeing them all.

Oh Mia. Lovely to hear about your travels again. You have certainly been busy seeing many wonderful places. And you have seen all extreme points of Australia- how impressive! You are certainly a little swimmer now and observing wonderful creatures and life under the water when you snorkel. Pity about not seeing the dolphins.
Keep exploring 😊 love Aunty Kate

WEhat a shame you didn’t see the dolphins. Wow all four points on the compass you have been too. Not many people can say that I bet. You certainly are having the most exciting time travelling around the country. The ray look lovely under the water. You do like snorkelling now. Love Grandma xx
